Samsung tipped to have a new series of smartphones on the way

According to a report in SamMobile, Samsung will soon launch a brand new smartphone series. The new lineup will allegedly feature single letter naming convention like the one seen in the newly launched Samsung Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5.
Launching a new series with single letter name will help the Korean giant streamline its vast product lineup. Duo to its sheer size, the latter requires the manufacturer to utilize long and rather difficult to track names for its devices.
There are no details on the specs or the price range of the upcoming product family just yet. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
Earlier this week, alleged details on the next generation Samsung Galaxy S flagship. Codenamed Project Zero, the device will be feature complete redesign - it will not be an evolutionary step from the Samsung Galaxy S5.

What's killing your battery? Android's top 10 performance-sapping apps

It may seem to consume every spare moment of our lives, but the world's most famous social networking app is chewing up our mobiles too, with Facebook topping a global list of the most performance-draining Android apps, which considered battery drain, storage consumption and data use.
But it's not just Facebook draining our mobile power -- a raft of other social apps, games and even bloatware are consuming more processing power, battery life and data than many of us realise.r
The findings come from new research conducted by AVG which took anonymous data from more than 1 million AVG Android app users in order to collate a list of the worst offenders in the Android app world (measured over Q3 2014, based on apps with more than 1 million Google Play downloads).
Culprits included pre-installed apps pushed out by device manufacturers, with 3 of the 10 biggest battery draining apps that run on start-up coming from Samsung. News apps also warrant a mention, particularly those that update in real-time, with the New York Times' Breaking News app topping the list of the most storage-hungry apps we use.
But with 62 percent of the time we spend on Android tablets or smartphones dedicated to playing games, gaming apps warranted their own top ten. In these stakes, King, the developer behind Candy Crush Saga and other titles in the Saga series, took out the dubious honour of holding 4 of the top 10 spots for performance-draining game apps.
So what should you do if your battery life is dropping faster than all those sugar balls in Candy Crush? AVG recommends turning off app notifications, limiting refresh intervals, deleting your cache of temporary files and limiting the amount of data an app is allowed to download while you're not watching.

Keeping Up with the Latest Phones Can make One Sick

I believe that if one tries to keep up with the latest phones, it can make one sick and I will tell you guys why I think so.

Buy S5 and in the next 1 year, S6 is out or buy iphone 6 nd in d nxt 1 year iphone 6s or whatever is out. It is really annoying. All these tech manufacturers are showing no sign of slowing down. There are even sometimes that they will release two phones in one year. For example, Sony released Xperia Z2 early this year and they also released Xperia Z3 this year. There are sometimes you might want to use your money to buy something but immediately you hear iphone this is out, you run to slot to go and buy it.

What I advice you to do is that, before you buy a new phone, browse about it and see if there's actually much difference between the new one and the one you are using. If the difference isn't much, just upgrade d OS of ur present phone and forget about the new phone.

Remotely disable Apple Pay on a lost or stolen iPhone

Even though a thief isn't likely to have your fingerprint, it's still a good idea to disable Apple Pay when you lose an iPhone.

Apple Pay has been touted as one of the most secure payment methods we've ever seen. Between its tokenization model and the requirement for your fingerprint before a payment can be processed, it's easy to see why.
Even still, losing an iPhone that acts as your wallet can be a bit unnerving. Granted, it's unlikely any would be thief would have access to a perfect copy of your fingerprint, Apple has included a method to disable Apple Pay on a lost device using its Find My iPhone service.

Should you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of having a lost or stolen iPhone, here's what you can do to disable Apple Pay.
  • Log in to your iCloud account on iCloud.com (or using another iOS device with the Find My iPhone app installed).
  • Select Find My iPhone from the list of options.
  • Find and select the device you've lost to begin tracking it.
  • Activate Lost Mode on your device, being sure to enter a phone number and lock-screen message to aid in the return of your device.
As soon as Lost Mode is enabled on an iOS device, any Apple Pay information is immediately disabled until you've reclaimed your device. Unlocking the device with your pin code will reactivate your payment info.

The top 20 catchiest songs of all time, according to science

Five ways tech could change TV football

Technology in football is a contentious issue but TV coverage has benefitted massively from tech innovations. Here’s five ways new advancements could improve your viewing...

LG football technology1. Referee microphone

A development that’s so simple rugby has been doing it for years. Yep, rugby on the cutting edge – imagine that. Having the match officials ‘miked up’, then broadcasting the audio live, gives the watching public a far better idea of exactly what the ruddy hell it is the men in black are actually trying to achieve.

Samsung needed to release Note 4 at the time they did

With Samsung having a 60% slump in quarterly profits, they needed to prove to their customers that they could still make killer phones and with the Note 4 for me, they just did. Apart from the phone being big, it is metal rimmed which means Samsung is doing away with the plastic body and we can expect a full Metal body from Galaxy S6. It also has a fingerprint scanner and you can also shrink the screen.

With Note 4 being this nice, why can't S6 be better?Samsung has realized were they went wrong and they have given Samsung lovers a reason why they shouldn't stop loving their phones.

Samsung says no OLED TVs next year

samsungnooled.jpg

Kim Hyun-seok, head of Samsung Electronics' TV business, has told reporters gathered at the company's Seo-cho office in Seoul that it's still too early for the company to launch OLED TVs, and LG's "strategy on OLED TV this year as well as next year remains unchanged".
After competing with cross-town rival LG Electronics for years to commercialize OLED TVs, Samsung has recently announced that it will be focusing on UHD TVs with LCD panels.
Meanwhile, LG is steadfastly continuing investments in OLED panels and products and said it was unafraid to go at it alone. "We will put everything into OLED as we are confident that it will replace LCD as the TV standard in the coming years," said LG spokesman San Kim. LG showed off a full HD OLED TV last year and an Ultra HD OLED TV this year with no plan to back down any time soon.
Executives of LG Display, LG Electronics' display panel-making affiliate, in a conference call for the third quarter, said the company was well prepared to continue manufacturing OLED panels.
Samsung Display, meanwhile, is focusing on small and mid-sized OLED panels for smartphones. For OLED panels to be used in TVs, the company is developing a 'printing' method over the current 'doping' method to make mass production easier and cheaper.
Samsung Electronics is planning to showcase quantum dot LCD TVs in next year's Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas. QD LCD TVs were considered difficult to produce just a few years ago, as cadmium, a substance hazardous to humans, was needed to make them. However, Samsung insiders told ZDNet Korea that collaboration with chemical firms has solved this problem.
A Samsung spokesman confirmed Kim's statements but declined to elaborate further.

Apple 'iPad Pro' may have smaller screen than thought, be thin as iPhone

A new rumor says the widely expected larger iPad may have a 12.2-inch display rather than the earlier rumored 12.9, and that it'll be slightly thicker than the iPad Air 2.

Apple is expected to go big with the next iPad, but according to a new rumor, maybe not as big as people have been saying.
The company's widely expected larger iPad, often referred to as the iPad Pro, will feature a 12.2-inch display, smaller than the rumored 12.9-inch size, according to Japanese site Macotakara, which has occasionally provided accurate rumors on Apple products. The iPad Air 2, released last month, has a 9.7-inch display.
In terms of thickness, the iPad Pro will fill out slightly compared with the iPad Air 2. Macotakara says its thickness is expected to be somewhere between an iPhone 6's 6.9 millimeter body and the iPhone 6 Plus's 7.1 millimeter body, thicker than the iPad Air 2's 6.1 millimeter frame, which is the thinnest iPad frame to date.
The new report provides the latest glimpse into the long-rumored iPad Pro, a larger, more work- and education-centric device that would compete directly against Microsoft's Surface Pro 3, which Microsoft positions as a replacement for a work PC. A jumbo-size iPad could provide a spark for Apple, which has suffered through three consecutive quarters of declining tablet sales.

Macotakara also said the iPad Pro would take some design cues from the iPad Air 2. It would feature a pair of speakers and microphones on the top and bottom sides of the device, possibly for stereo sound.
Apple is still months away from possibly unveiling a larger iPad (it hasn't yet confirmed such a device), and there have been a number of rumors about the gadget, so take the report with a grain of salt.
An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.

But a larger iPad does make sense. Apple already has an initiative focused on education and getting more tablets into schools, and the company also partnered with IBM to spur the development of enterprise apps. Rather than go with a less expensive product like the iPad Mini, an iPad Pro could make for a more profitable high-end model.
Apple could use the spark. While its iPhone business soared in the fiscal fourth quarter, sales of the iPad have waned. It was the third straight quarter of declines, and for the first time in three years, Mac sales surpassed iPad sales.
At the same time, Microsoft's Surface line gained steady traction, though it remains nowhere near the iPad in sales. In the last quarter, Microsoft saw sales of its Surface line rise 127 percent to $908 million. Apple's iPad unit generated revenue of $5.3 billion in the last quarter.

With Microsoft targeting businesses more aggressively, Apple could be looking to the iPad Pro to shore up its growing position in the workplace.

How to disable autotagging on Facebook

Facebook's privacy controls are present but may not be set to your liking. Take control of who can tag you in posts and media.
If you have friends who love to upload pictures to Facebook, chances are that you get tagged pretty often. But sometimes you don't want others to be able to share pictures of you without prior permission. By default, Facebook lets friends tag you in posts, in photos that look like you, and check you in to places that you haven't visited. Here's how to put a stop to any (or all) of these tag-happy features:
Step 1.
Step 1: Click the arrow in the top right-hand corner of Facebook on the Web and choose Settings.

Step 2: Choose Timeline and Tagging from the left-hand menu.
Step 3: In the third section of text, you adjust the settings for reviewing tags, who can see those tags, and whether or not you should appear in tag suggestions for photos.
Now you can control what your name is attached to on Facebook. Do you have any other Facebook privacy tips to share? Add them in the comments!
