10 APC members, musician injured as supporters of lawmakers clash in Ibadan

At least, 10 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, including a fuji musician, Fuji musician, Rashidi Ayinde, were injured yesterday when supporters of two legislators in the Oyo State House of Assembly clashed at Ojoo area of Ibadan.
The lawmakers, Temitope Olatoye representing Lagelu state constituency and Abiodun Adigun Ahmed representing Akinyele II state constituency are both contesting the only seat in the same federal constituency in the 2015 election.
After the melee that lasted hours, the Fuji musician who was injured was seen at the Governor’s office in a blood stained cloth.
An eyewitness said sanity was thrown to the wind during a mini-rally held at Ojoo area.
It was gathered that   the Fuji musician was   praising of Olatoye, an action which angered the supporters of his rival.
Subsequently, the two factions engaged in a free-for-all. which left them injured.
During the fracas, dangerous weapons like machetes were used.
To avoid being caught up in the violence, traders and party faithful in the area ran for cover.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi reportedly summoned the two lawmakers to a meeting by 2pm.
The governor reportedly warned them to call their loyalists to order as he would not sit by and watch them rupture the peace the state had been enjoying since he assumed office.
Confirming the fracas, the party’s publicity secretary, Mr. Olawale Shadare, described it as minor political differences.
He said he was happy as the governor had waded into it and calmed frayed nerves.
